Great Examples of Free WordPress Themes Modifications

By: Alexandru Vornicescu | July 25, 2009 | Modified Themes | 9 Comments

In this article I created a small showcase of modified WordPress themes. The modified themes are very creative and some of them are better then original.

I think it’s better, faster and easier to get a theme for free then to change colors and backgrounds and to make it a unique theme than creating the theme from zero.

The original themes are provided by Woothemes that are free. The themes are: Irresistible, Meta-Morphosis, Typebased and Snapshot. Please share this article if you like.

Nice point made, tho I don’t think a modified theme beats a newly created fresh one from scratch.

All the themes are very nice. Can you tell what’s the original of Exotic Hunting and Fishing?

Hi. Nice point. I’m new to this, and have been mulling over the best way to get all the things I like on my blog. The thing is I’m new to html and css. Can you recommend the best path to getting up to speed so that I can create my own modified theme?

    Thanks.

@marixi – hmmm… you can start learning html and css… in 2-3 weeks you could be a pro in this! :) Modifying a theme is easier than you think! All can be done if you really want to.
Create a localhost server installing wordpress on you pc and start modifying and experimenting on wp themes.
    Good luck!

Hey, thanks for featuring our site in your post. We used a free theme from WooThemes for our site just to give their themes a try. We’ve used them in a number of projects since then and and found them to be great!

@alex Agreed. A custom design from scratch is preferred.
But, sometimes modifying an existing theme is a good solution to reduce costs and/or speed up delivery time.

Hey these are awesome. Want to Berita? My site is modified from Berita. Completely custom themes are awesome, but modifying existing (well built) ones, is so much freakin fun! : ) ‘d

Hey, nice article! I’m just quite about ready finishing my mod of Irresistible theme which was also featured here. If you want to take a look how I’ve modded that theme, here’s a link: http://www.djdesouza.com
